Questions & Answers

Everyone has questions. Tell us yours.

Q:
I need to match my ink color to your purple Thermo-FILM®. Do you have a chart showing PMS color matches?
A:
PMS colors can be referenced on pg. 29 of the Custom Counter Book Catalog.
Q:
How can I adjust the speed and offset on my Roland GX-24 cutter?
A:
Within the Reference Guide of the Roland GX24 Operations Manual you will find the steps on the Menu Flow Chart. You can install the operations manual from the CD that came with your cutter or download it directly from the Roland website.
Q:
Can I heat apply onto sublimated jerseys?
A:
Yes, we recommend doing so using Thermo-FILM® at a reduced temperature. Thermo-FILM will block any dye migration. Thermo-FLOCK® is also a suitable choice.
Q:
Why is my Thermo-FILM® falling off after washings?
A:
The most common reason is underapplication, which can be caused by seams, buttons, zippers, etc., that do not allow the heat press to close firmly on the print. Use a pillow or print perfect pad to raise the print area.
Q:
How can I tell the front from the back on my Thermo-FILM® (or Thermo-GRIP®) pre-cuts?
A:
The front of Thermo-FILM and Thermo-GRIP materials are textured.
Q:
How can I distinguish Thermo-FILM® letters/numbers from Thermo-GRIP® letters/numbers?
A:
Thermo-FILM: White color has a blue-tinted adhesive. All other colors have a cloudy, milky colored adhesive. Thermo-GRIP: White color has a green-tinted adhesive. All other colors have a clear adhesive.
Q:
I order materials by the yard, but the rolls are too long for my GX-24. Did I do something wrong?
A:
You should be using CAD-CUT® heat transfer material with your vinyl cutter. These materials have a clear carrier and the widths are compatible with the GX-24.

Materials By the Yard are rolls that must be hand cut or used with a flatbed cutter. This material does not have a carrier backing and is typically too long for a vinyl cutter.
